Synopsis (Source: Wikipedia)

Earl works as a salesman in an appliance store and gets his customers stolen away by other staff. Joy left Darnell a tape which said that she was going away for a while.

VIEWERS CAN LAUGH ‚N‘ SNIFF THEIR WAY THROUGH THIS SUPER-SIZED EPISODE VIA UNIQUE INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCE – A special „scented“ insert card will be available on newsstands and to subscribers of TV Guide for viewers who want to „Laugh ‚n‘ Sniff“ their way through this episode of „My Name Is Earl.“ Play along and get a whiff of the action along with Earl (Jason Lee) and his cohorts. In this episode, Earl is faced with belated growing pains when he decides to get his first real job at an appliance store and his qualifications as a salesperson are questioned. Meanwhile, Joy (Jaime Pressly) makes yet another irrational decision when she dreads her upcoming trial. Eddie Steeples, Nadine Velazquez and Ethan Suplee also star.

Trivia

• The video tape Joy recorded her message over apparently had an episode of Yes Dear on it, as the end of the tape a clip from the show is visible. Billy Gardell who appeared on this episode had a recurring role on Yes Dear.
• The shot of Earl (see episode picture above) with his hands up in the rain is a takeoff of a scene from the movie The Shawshank Redemption.
• This episode parodied the movie Rudy. Rudy starred Sean Astin, Charles S. Dutton and Chelcie Ross who were all guest stars in the episode. Two of the most memorable scenes of the film were parodied during this episode (The inspirational speech given by the Dutton, and the players giving up their position on the team for Rudy)
• A scratch and sniff card was made specifically for this episode. Various scents were on the card, and when told during the episode, you were supposed to smell the various odors that were on the card. The cards were distributed in TV Guide magazines. Odor 1: Detergent, Odor 2: Oreos (also a prominent sponsor of the episode), Odor 3: Cinnamon Buns, Odor 4: Popcorn, Odor 5: New Car Smell, Odor 6: Cologne.
