To cross off „made fun of people with accents“ his list, Earl teaches English as a Second Language. An old friend, Ralph, gets out of prison and Earl convinces him to try karma, which only works for a short while. Earl gets Ralph a job at a lamp store but Ralph steals all the lamps.Ralph decides to kidnap Randy to force Earl into revealing where he's keeping his lottery winnings. After giving Ralph the key for the money he leaves Earl and Randy tied up. Earl's students rescue him and Randy, Earl seeing that he did teach the people in his class something. Earl calls the bank on Ralph, who call the police. He escapes but Earl knows where he is but doesn't tell the police as he's still Ralph's friend. Ralph gives Earl back the Key he took to get the money out of the bank. Meanwhile, Joy feels one of Earl's students is gaining a competitive advantage against her by learning English and attempts to sabotage the student's business.
GIOVANNI RIBISI GUEST STARS AS EX-CON – Earl (Jason Lee) is teaching English as a Second Language to cross „made fun of people with accents“ off his list. When an old friend, Ralph (guest star Giovanni Ribisi), gets out of prison Earl convinces him to try karma, which works… for a while. Ralph ends up kidnapping Randy (Ethan Suplee) and demands he tell him where Earl is keeping his lotto winnings. Meanwhile, Joy (Jaime Pressly) tries to sabotage the business of one of Earl’s students because she’s afraid of the competitive edge she is gaining by learning English. Nadine Velasquez and Eddie Steeples also star.
